My first impression was torque, and lots of it. In each and every gear the car will pull from very low revs with very little effort. Example 5th gear going up a normal 3rd gear hill at 1600 rpm and not having to change down! Put simply it has made my journeys far more relaxing and effortless! As a result of this I would say that my 0 – 60 time has changed from that of 8.1 seconds to probably more like 7.1! not forgetting that the car weighs in at 1260 kg (quite heavy). Fuel economy is good and strangely enough I have had an increase in my mpg! (Probably because of my not needing to change down as often and less throttle required to keep it moving). So to sum it all up, more torque + more hp + better fuel economy = happy me!
Thanks for coming up on Saturday and doing the tuning. I have been taking rather easy as the speed seems to pile on rather quickly and corners which I used to accelerate around I now have to go easy around, which makes driving a little bit more fun. I have noticed that 4th Gear is like third used to be and it makes overtaking a doddle! The 0-60 have been considerably reduced as well, its great being able to leave bmw 330's behind as opposed to them just being able to keep up before the tuning was done.
The car seems to have settled down quiet nicely with no warning lights on or any problems. Thanks once again.
Thanks for a brilliant job on the GTV, whilst there was immediate improvement the real benefits have come with time as the ECU ‘learned’ my driving style. The result is a much more flexible engine pulling from 3-3.5 k rpm, large increase in torque basically pulls like a train. Now noticeable quicker with improved 0-60 time, I’ll get a proper check and let you know how quick. Fuel consumption also has shown an improvement, unless I get carried away.
Having run the car for a couple of days now you can expect roughly the same delivery you had before but loads more power everywhere. 3rd gear feels like 2nd used to, it feels smoother and nippier all through the
rev range. Most noticeable was the removal of the brick wall that you hit at 4k when the car used to just stop accelerating until you hooked the next ratio. At the moment I am still driving quite 'enthusiastically' but the MPG figure is creeping up. On my slow traffic clogged 10 mile commute to work I used to get roughly 42mpg with the aircon going full pelt and about 47/48 without. Came into work this morning and had 54 on the display. Result!
All in all, well worth the money and will recommend to everyone!
The guys appeared through the grim foggy North East night armed to the teeth with laptop and bags of enthusiasm and knowledge. We soon trotted off for a test drive... Well what can I say. The power increase was incredible and noticeable from the start. Was 150 bhp now around 205Bhp, was 225 lbs ft now around 305 lbs ft. Also what was noticeable from my fuel computer was an increase in 2-3 mpg, Bonus!
A fantastic job done by friendly enthusiastic guys who know what they are talking about, unlike some others...
I had my 2003 Alfa 156 1.9 JTD 8v (115bhp) remapped by Graham.
Since buying the car I have always regretted not getting the 2.4 JTD. However now I am not bothered after Celtic tuning worked there magic on it.
All I can say I that there service could not be any better. The car now feels like it has been let out of its shackles. It pulls all the way up 5k revs. It's a lot more like a petrol car. The power is delivered very smoothly too. It really is a lot quicker in all gears
The mapping has even cleared the little flat spot it had at 2250rpm. I was concerned about the car smoking but it doesn't at all!
The car now goes as fast as it looks.
Graham says the car will be running 165 BHP and 400nm of torque and I well
believe it!
The mapping process was very quick and straight forward and its hard to believe what a difference just downloading a different file to the ecu can make!!
The car now pulls cleanly from around 1800rpm all the way to 4200rpm, with a very satisfactory surge of power. I know its been said before but third now pulls like second used to and fourth like third! Its so much more enjoyable to drive now, making overtaking a doddle.
On a recent drive through the winding roads of the Wicklow Mountains I was being followed by a friend in his Alfa Romeo GTV 3.0 V6, he said that at one point he wasn’t able to keep up!! Graham was very helpful and informative throughout the whole process and really helped me out of a hole after a bad experience with a different mapping company, and I would fully recommend Celtic Tuning to anyone looking to get a bit more out of their car.
Just wanted to let you know how pleased I am with my S3 after you came round to re map it for me last weekend. I can happily say it feels like a totally different car. Far quicker acceleration and more responsive in and out of corners to say the least. Even the sound of the car has changed. Made up with the results lads, thanks again.
Just to say how very pleased I am with the results, having had my car remapped and a Hyperboost Diverter Valve fitted. You promised great things for the 1.8T engine and you haven't disappointed.
The performance and torque improvements are fantastic and the car feels smoother and more responsive to drive too. It really has made such a difference and made the car what I always wanted it to be. I just wish I had done it sooner and I'll certainly call you in for future cars!
Thank you for your conscientious and professional approach to getting my car sorted. Many thanks
I have an Audi A4 130 sport tdi, with a tiptronic gearbox. I noticed something was different as I drove off the drive on the test drive, and have to say how impressed I was with the 1st impressions. I have now done about 500 miles and have a much better feel for the changes from an extra 55BHP and 80ft/lb of torque.
It really is like driving a completely different car. There is much better throttle response and although the ECU and auto box still take a second or so to sort themselves out when pulling away from stationary, there is a marked improvement. The huge increase in torque has transformed the low-rev pulling power and although the auto box makes me largely unaware of what gear I am in, there is no doubt that the car pulls like a train when it is going up hill, and in a higher gear than before.
The car seems to be quieter and smoother than before.
Acceleration is phenomenally different. The gearbox has "drive" and "sport" settings, and since the remap performance in "drive" is only marginally less than it was before in "sport" before. There is just no need to slip it in to "sport" or use the tiptronic mode to accelerate or overtake because the mid range performance is really quite amazing. Overtaking on A roads and the motorway has been hugely transformed and can be done much more quickly and safely.
Perhaps the biggest surprise is that all the extra power seems to have made no difference at all to the fuel consumption.
Before the remap the "Sport" label referred to the suspension, wheels and seats, but the car now has true sports performance as well.
Just letting you know that I am so pleased with the result and the difference that you made to my 2003 audi a6 tdi. It has been transformed from an asthmatic diesel to performing like a petrol car. It feels like a different car completely. Still playing and enjoying watching other cars trying to get away from me.
Just a quick mail to say thanks to everyone at Celtic (especially Peter who braved the Cumbrian weather) for making the car go like it looks! I nearly made the mistake of trying to penny pinch a little and go elsewhere but the small extra Celtic charges is worth the service. Peter came on a weds night and just got on with the work in a polite and professional manner despite the raft of questions myself and neighbour threw at him. As soon as the test drive afterwards you could notice the difference and the improvements continue to date as I've only covered about 80-100 miles since the work. I've not mentioned the car yet, its an A6 2.0tdi s-line and out the box has just 140bhp, whilst that is surprisingly capable at hauling such a large car along, its not enough! the overall package is now superb and you question why Audi don't deliver them like this! Its smoother, more responsive, much much faster and the torque is great! Revs right to the red line and pulls from about 1500 revs. Long shot is, if you are thinking of doing this work on a similar motor then choose these guys, they know what they are doing and inspire confidence - important when you are letting someone loose on probably the most expensive thing you own after a house!!
Hello i have just had my Audi s3 remapped ....all I can say is its worth every penny it now flies, it was a quick car before the remap but now its completely different if Audi put these cars for sale with this much power they would have sold hundreds/thousands more.
If your thinking of getting your car remapped use these guys YOU WONT BE DISAPOINTED! Only problem is its costing more in petrol ONLY because i cant stop driving it all the time. Top job thanks.
I have an 2000 180Bhp Audi TT that the main man Graham and Tony remapped for me just before Christmas. The car has done 90,000 miles and although it’s not particularly tired it has lacked a certain oompphh.
The guys at Celtic Tuning did their work and it really is like I have both a new car and that I have upgraded to the 225Bhp model. The engine is so much more responsive both at the bottom and top end and feels smoother and quieter too. I am ecstatic with the results and although I was thinking about selling the car I now have a new found passion for it.
Well done chaps – you’ve made driving a much more thrilling experience.
Having spoken at length to the people at Celtic tuning i was confident that
the re-map on my AudiTT would be to a very high standard.
I must give a
special mention to Peter who carried out the work on my car at my home, he is
a very friendly person, answered all my questions in full, but at all times
maintained a professional approach to the job.
The performance of my TT is
now amazing, much smoother and responsive, faster with true sports car
performance,When will the big grin disappear off my face.
I am very pleased with the upgrade, this is the performance a TT should have from the start, acceleration through the gears is awesome, the speedo resembles the rev counter now.
It took about 10 miles for the re mapping to settle then when it did the fun started.
I wasn't really sure what to expect when I arranged to have my engine re-mapped but I knew I needed something extra from my 225.
When Peter arrived he briefly talked me through what he was going to do and then I just left him to it. Just over an hour later I went for a spin in my 'new' car...the difference was awesome. I was more surprised at just how smoothly the power is now delivered....it doesn’t have the huge turbo lag it used to and feels like a totally different car. Just want to say thanks boys; once again I now have a smile on my face every time I put my foot down!
Over the past couple of months I have been reading reviews from people who have had there pride and joy remapped to be honest I was in two minds as to having it done, on a number of reviews it was stated, I had a big grin on my face, I thought no it can't be that good can it?
Well I can tell you I had my TT done in the morning and by the afternoon I was heading towards sudbury and every time I pressed the accelerator I had the most stupid grin on my face other drivers must had thought I was mad and to be honest to put a grin on my face the results must be very good.
Well done Celtic Tuning I would use your services again.
Just a note to say thank you for a job well done. Took a bit longer than expected, but now I appreciate the individual attention that each client receives in getting a totally individual remap without cutting corners.
Car totally transformed from sedate cruiser to hot hatch. Now actually enjoy driving the car whereas before simply a means of transport.
Happy to say better fuel economy - 5mpg on average. Simply stunning! Thanks.
I had my BMW 320d (136 bhp) remapped by Graham at Celtic Tuning last Saturday and over the following week proceeded to give it a full test with over 1200 miles going on the clock.
The first thing you notice is the extra torque, bags and bags of it! The turbo kicks in so much sooner now and it keeps going right up to the red line, where the next gear does exactlty the same.
I used to drive an Impreza turbo and, although you cannot compare the two for speed, you get the same kind of pull in higher gears on the motorway. Fuel economy is worse at the minute, but that's because I am enjoying the extra power too much. I did take is steady for 100 miles or so and it seems about the same as before.
Very very happy!
Update 22nd August 2006 ..........
Car was remapped at 90,000 miles, it has now done 137,000 and has never missed a beat. Highly recommended.
Just to say "thanks" for the remap, it was a really friendly service and now my car feels far more responsive and the power band is much wider, she's eager to pull in any gear and with her added eagerness blasting from standstill to the point when all of that glorious torque takes over and accelerates you warp speed is so much faster. In everyday terms my 330d has gone from being a relatively quick yet frugal car into a very usable quick car with simply awesome in-gear acceleration and no loss of fuel economy whatsoever! Quite a feat boys, thanks,
Post remapping I am pleased to report that in town driving or heavy traffic at low speed, there is no desernable difference in the sub 2k rpm, pulling smoothly and without fuss in all useable gears.
Rapid get away from a standing start i.e. 'boy racer starts' albeit not my favoured way of driving, is now achieved much more aggressively and 2k to 5k rpm comes up far quicker such that you are virtually changing gear not long after flooring your right foot
through 1st, 2nd and 3rd.
Now for the important bit. When accelerating on the move from above 2k rpm 4th, 5th and even 6th still gives you a smooth but more urgent surge of power thrusting the car along at a faster pace than before. Gears 4th and 5th are adrenalin pumping modes when the conditions are allowable and 6th is just amazing at the improved ability to accelerate at the higher motorway speeds.
Just a quick note to say how pleased I am with the ECU remap you did on my BMW last weekend. The BMW 3L Diesel is already one of the smoothest and most powerful diesel engines available, but after the re-map it is so much more responsive and the acceleration needs to be experienced to be believed. My other car is a 996 C4 and the in gear acceleration for overtaking is at least as quick if not better than that now. The fuel consumption has even decreased slightly due to the reduced requirement for gear changes. My only problem now is that I have to keep a close eye on the speedo as 60 is reached so quick and you don't even notice it. I would recommend this to anyone who has a 3Lt BMW diesel, you no longer need that boy racer Impreza.
Happy to date, car now has a certain "Picasso G.T." feel about it now. Most noticeable is how very fast it spins up in 2nd and the torque that is left to use for acceleration at 70+ or even on a couple of occasions at 80+. Economy seems broadly unaffected at 44.1 mpg. Thus far, it looks like a pretty good job...!!!
